Our History

Our family business story begins in 1984 when founder Bob Jones started R.S. Jones and Associates Incorporated, which performed mostly utility and mine reclamation projects.

Our current company was founded in 1987 as BCI - Boring Contractors, Inc. (now Jones Road & Bridge) by Bob and his wife Carol to serve Southwest Virginia’s needs as an auger boring contractor.

Over the course of nearly 20 years until it was sold in 2002, R.S. Jones performed large grading projects, large utility projects, and rail projects for Departments of Transportation (DOT) all over Southwest Virginia and East Tennessee.

In 2006, BCI resumed provision of pipe boring and utility services to municipalities, DOTs, and private entities throughout Southwest Virginia. As the business grew, BCI took on fewer utility projects to focus on more road and bridge projects, reincorporating some of the transportation-focused jobs that R.S. Jones originally performed, and expanding into bridge work.

In 2022, Boring Contractors, Inc. (BCI) was renamed to Jones Road & Bridge to incorporate the legacy of our founding family and to better represent the services we have been providing to the region.

“We have a group of experienced, hard-working employees that are great at their jobs. We have been in the business for decades, and continue to look to the future for opportunities.”

— Robert “Bob” Jones, President, Jones Road & Bridge
